Wintz asks: "How can we reconcile God's goodness with the birth of deformed babies, with innocent people being killed or maimed by drunk drivers, terrorist attacks, starvation, disease or natural disaster? Where is God in all this? Isn't God in charge of his own creation? Why didn't God prevent this?" Offers three admittedly incomplete answers to the question of why we suffer and identifies five helpful ways to respond to suffering—our own or someone else's.
