This issue of Catholic Update discusses the state of marriage today and how the Catholic Church is addressing new challenges. Susan Vogt writes, "Successful marriage is not so much a matter of finding the right person but being the right person.... The challenge is knowing when to bend and change yourself versus when to stand up for yourself." Some suggestions include: being prepared for big challenges; befriending your spouse daily; disagreeing without being disagreeable; striving for similar values; being ready to accept differences; going beyond sex to celebrate love; finding balance; and not avoiding the deeper questions.
