New DVD format

Father Michael Himes helps us reflect on our baptismal commitment, drawing insights from the Lenten Sunday readings, particularly the stories of water, light and life from John's Gospel. Focusing on the heart of the Lenten message, these programs are ideal for use with adults preparing for Baptism, prayer groups and those engaged in ongoing faith formation.

Program One, What Is Temptation, Really? (19 min.), demonstrates how the readings for the first two weeks of Lent provide an overview of salvation history, from creation to new life in Christ, a discussion of the call of Abraham and the Transfiguration, and an invitation to reflect on the power of Baptism.

Program Two, Danger and Desire (21 min.), examines the primal symbol of water, examining its varied dimensions in the readings of the Third Sunday of Lent, especially reflecting on how Christian commitment requires dying to self in order to rise with Christ.

Program Three, God Sees Into the Heart (17 min.), explores the theme of the Fourth Sunday of Lent -- "light and darkness"—including a vivid description of the Easter Vigil in the early Church, when people literally stumbled through the darkness to receive the light of Christ.

Program Four, Endless Possibilities (20 min.), offers a fascinating journey into the depths of the gospel story of the raising of Lazarus and the "endless possibilities" it holds for us.
